Why this is a fit
The role is a strong function and location match — Senior Legal Counsel in Maryland within financial services aligns with your target titles, location (Owings Mills, MD is in the Baltimore/DC metro), and industry. However, the role requires 8+ years of experience focused on private funds, alternative investments, CLOs, and SEC/Investment Advisers Act frameworks, which is materially different from your ERISA, employee benefits, and HIPAA specialization; your in-house benefits counsel background does not map to private fund documentation and adviser regulatory work.
